Referral programme terms
These terms govern the Global Hire referral partner programme. By applying to join, and by using a referral link or submitting a referral, you agree to them.
Version 2 — last updated 19 August 2026. Global Hire, Suite 210, 4935 – 55 Ave NW, Edmonton, Alberta T6B 3S3, Canada.
Version 2 adds the team bonus for partners who introduce other partners, and sets out what happens when a client is refunded after commission has already been paid. If you accepted an earlier version you will be asked to accept this one; until you do, nothing in it that was not in the version you accepted applies to you.
The most important thing on this page
Referral partners are independent introducers. They are not employees, agents or representatives of Global Hire. A partner may introduce someone to us. A partner may not give immigration advice, assess anyone's eligibility, promise an outcome, quote a processing time, complete or submit forms, or represent anyone before IRCC or any other authority.
In Canada only an authorised representative — a lawyer, a Quebec notary, or a consultant in good standing with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants — may advise on or represent an immigration matter for a fee. If someone asks you a question you are not sure about, the right answer is always the same: book a free consultation and ask us.

1. Who can be a partner
You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter a contract. Every application is reviewed by a person, and we may decline any application without giving a reason. Approval is not permanent — see section 9.
You may not join if doing so would breach a duty you owe to someone else: an employment contract, a professional code, or a platform's own rules. That is your responsibility to check, not ours.
If you are yourself a licensed immigration professional, a recruiter, or an employer, tell us when you apply. Some of those relationships carry rules of their own about who may be paid for what, and we would rather structure the arrangement correctly at the start.
2. What a partner may and may not do
You may: share your referral link and QR code; tell people honestly what Global Hire does; explain that a first consultation is free; pass on someone's details with their permission; and describe the programme accurately to people who may want to join it.
You may not:
- Give immigration advice of any kind, including opinions on eligibility, points scores, programme choice, or the strength of a case.
- Promise, guarantee or imply any outcome, approval, processing time, or job.
- Describe yourself as an employee, agent, representative, consultant or office of Global Hire, or use a job title that suggests it.
- Quote fees, negotiate fees, take payment from a client, or collect money on our behalf.
- Charge anyone a fee for referring them to us. The commission comes from us, not from them.
- Complete, sign, or submit any application, form or document for anyone.
- Use the Global Hire name, logo or materials in advertising without our written agreement, or bid on our name in paid search.
- Send unsolicited bulk email or messages. Anything you send must comply with CASL and the anti-spam rules where your audience lives.
- Submit anyone's details without their permission, or invent, scrape or buy leads.
- Refer yourself, your own business, or anyone who is already a Global Hire client or in active discussion with us.
Breaching this section ends the arrangement immediately and forfeits any commission not yet paid.
3. How referrals are tracked
Tracking happens in two stages, and they work differently. The first covers somebody who has clicked your link but not yet become a client. The second begins the moment they do, and does not end.
Before they become a client
When you are approved you receive a personal referral link. When someone opens it, our site stores a small file in their browser — a cookie — recording your referral code for up to 400 days, which is the longest period any browser will keep one.
They do not have to book on the day they click. If they come back within that time on the same browser and go ahead, the referral is credited to you. The practical limits of this stage, so they are known in advance rather than argued afterwards:
- Last touch wins. If someone opens your link and then another partner's before becoming a client, the most recent link is the one credited.
- The cookie is per browser and per device. If they click on a phone and later book on a laptop, or clear their cookies, or use private browsing, the link cannot be followed. That is a limitation of how browsers work, not a decision of ours. Some browsers, including Safari, shorten it to about a week regardless of what we ask for.
- The period runs from the most recent click, and a fresh click restarts it.
- Where attribution at this stage is genuinely unclear, we decide in good faith, and we will tell you why.
Once they become a client — for life
The moment someone you introduced books a consultation or pays for a service, we record you as the partner who introduced them on their client record, permanently. From that point the cookie stops mattering entirely.
- It does not expire. There is no window and no renewal. It is not reassigned to another partner, whatever they do later.
- It survives their browser. They can change device, clear their cookies, or come back in five years. They are still recorded as yours.
- It applies to everything they come back for. Each further application is a separate piece of work and earns you commission on the same terms as the first, at your rate in force when that work is paid for.
Two things this does not change, because they are decided elsewhere in these terms and are not affected by how long you are credited for: commission is earned on the professional fee only and never on government fees, and consultations do not earn commission whether or not they are paid for.
If your partner account is closed or you leave the programme, credit for work paid for after that point ends with it.
4. Referring someone by hand
Your partner portal lets you submit someone's details directly, for people who would rather you passed their information on than clicked a link.
You must tick the box confirming that you know the person and have their permission before you submit anything. That confirmation is recorded with the exact wording you agreed to, along with the date and time.
This is not a formality. Their name, contact details and account of their situation are their personal information, and under Canadian privacy law we need a basis for holding it. If you submit someone's details without their permission, you are the one who obtained them improperly. We will remove the record on request from either of you, and repeated instances end the arrangement.
How we handle those details afterwards is set out in our privacy policy.
5. When commission is earned
Commission is a share of the net revenue Global Hire actually receives for professional fees on a referred client's matter.
Net revenue means our professional fees after deducting sales taxes (GST/HST), payment processing fees, refunds and chargebacks, and any amount collected on the client's behalf and paid out again — government filing fees, biometrics, medicals, language tests, translation, courier and similar disbursements. Those are not our revenue, so they are not shared.
Commission is earned at the point the referred person becomes a paying client — they have signed a retainer with us and their fee has been received. It is not earned on a consultation. Most consultations are free, and a paid consultation is not a signed matter.
Your rate depends on the number of referred clients who have signed:
| Tier | Signed clients | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 0 – 99 | 10% of net revenue |
| Growth | 100 – 499 | 15% of net revenue |
| Elite | 500 or more | 25% of net revenue |
A new rate applies to clients who sign after you reach the tier. Reaching Growth does not re-price commissions already earned at Starter, in either direction — the rate is fixed to each matter at the moment that client signs.
There is no cap on how much you can earn, and no limit on how many people you refer.
6. When commission is not earned
- The person does not sign, or signs and then cancels before paying.
- They were already our client, or already in discussion with us, before your referral.
- The referral is you, a business you control, or a duplicate of an existing referral.
- Their fee is refunded or charged back, in whole or in part. See section 7A.
- The details were submitted without the person's permission, or are false.
- The matter is one on which we decide, in our professional judgement, that a referral fee should not be paid. This is rare and we will explain it. It exists because the rules governing regulated immigration work are not identical in every category or country.
7. How and when you are paid
Commission is calculated monthly and paid in the month following the month in which the client's fee cleared.
We pay once your balance reaches CAD $100. Below that it keeps accruing and is paid as soon as it passes the threshold — nothing is lost or expires. Your portal shows how far there is to go. If you leave the programme with a balance below $100, tell us and we will pay it out.
You are responsible for keeping your payment details accurate in your portal. We are not liable for a payment sent correctly to details you supplied.
Your portal shows every referral, its current status, and what has been recorded against it. If something looks wrong, tell us — every status change is recorded with its date, so a disagreement can be checked against the record rather than argued from memory.
7A. Introducing other partners
You may introduce other people to the programme using the partner ID shown in your portal. If someone joins through it, they become a partner in their own right, with their own agreement with us and their own clients.
When a partner you introduced earns commission, you earn 20% of their commission as a team bonus. Two things about that figure matter:
- It is paid by us, on top. Nothing is deducted from what they earn. Their commission is exactly what it would have been had nobody introduced them.
- It goes one level only. You earn on the partners you introduced. You do not earn on partners they go on to introduce, and nobody earns on you beyond the one person who introduced you.
The 20% rate is fixed for each relationship at the time that partner joins. If we change the rate for new partners later, yours does not move.
There is no payment for signing someone up, and no fee to join. A team bonus is earned only when a partner you introduced earns real commission on real work for a real client. If they never earn, you never earn.
If your own partner account is closed or suspended, team bonuses stop with it.
7B. When a client is refunded
Commission is a share of money we actually keep. If we refund a client, that money was never ours, so it was never commissionable — and the commission paid on it comes back.
Everyone gives back the same proportion. If a client is refunded 10% of what they paid, 10% of the commission on that file comes back. A full refund returns all of it. This applies equally to a team bonus: if the partner who referred the client gives back 10%, the partner who introduced them gives back 10% of their bonus. Each person answers only for their own share, never for anyone else's.
What happens next depends on whether we had already paid you:
- If the commission is still owed to you, it is simply reduced. Nothing is taken back, because nothing had been sent.
- If we had already paid you, the difference becomes repayable. We take it off your next commission automatically, and your portal shows the amount and which client it relates to. You do not need to do anything.
If there is no next commission. An amount repayable under this section is due whether or not you refer anyone else. If it is still outstanding 90 days after it arose, we may ask you to pay it directly — by bank transfer, Interac e-Transfer, or another method we agree — instead of waiting for a deduction that may never happen. We will always tell you before we do that, and we will tell you what it relates to.
We may reduce or waive an amount repayable at our discretion, and we will do so where the refund arose from our own error rather than from anything you did.
This section applies only to commission paid under the version of these terms you accepted. If you accepted an earlier version that did not include it, it does not apply to you until you accept these terms.
8. Tax
You are an independent contractor. Commission is business income, and you are responsible for your own taxes, registrations and filings wherever you live. We do not withhold tax and we do not provide tax advice. Depending on where you are and how much you earn, we may need tax information from you before we can pay you.
9. Ending the arrangement
You may leave at any time by telling us. We may end your participation with 30 days' notice, or immediately if you breach section 2, submit referrals without permission, or do anything that damages our standing or a client's matter.
If the arrangement ends without breach, commission already earned on clients who have signed is still paid. Referrals in progress but not yet signed do not carry over.
9A. Suspension of your account
If we believe, at our discretion, that you have breached these terms, misused the programme, or acted unethically or against our rules — in any way, whether or not it is listed here — we may place your account on hold immediately and without notice while we look into it.
While your account is on hold: you cannot sign in to the partner portal; your referral and recruiting links stop crediting new referrals to you; no new commission or team bonus accrues to you; and any commission or bonus already earned but not yet paid is held. Nothing is paid out until the matter is resolved, and whether and what is then paid is at our discretion, acting reasonably on what the investigation finds.
A hold is not necessarily the end of the arrangement. If the matter is resolved in your favour — or the hold turns out to have been a mistake — your access, your links, and your ability to earn are restored in full, and anything properly earned is paid in the ordinary way. If the investigation confirms a breach, we may end your participation under section 9.
If your account is placed on hold, contact us through the details on your account or the contact page to resolve it. We will tell you what the hold relates to when you do.
10. Changes to the programme
We may change these terms, the tiers, or the rates. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email to the address on your account. Changes are not retroactive: any commission already earned is paid on the terms in force when that client signed.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Alberta have jurisdiction.
Nothing in these terms creates an employment relationship, a partnership, a joint venture, or an agency. Nothing in them is legal or immigration advice.
